Introducing Whitetail SLAM

By August 11th, 2023No Comments

Whitetail SLAM, LLC is pleased to announce the official launch of Whitetail SLAM, a new multimedia platform that will educate, honor, recognize and award North American whitetail hunters who join the quest for a Whitetail SLAM. The mission of Whitetail SLAM is to give every hunter a slam they achieve hunting North America’s most popular big game animal, the white-tailed deer, and capture the excitement and experience of those hunters through Whitetail SLAM multimedia. With the help of renowned biologists Dr. Harry Jacobson and Dr. James Kroll, as well as Kip Adams and Brian Murphy from the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA), Whitetail SLAM has identified eight distinct subgroups of whitetails across North America based on unique biological, geographical and habitat characteristics, that offer a very different hunting experience for each: Northern Woodlands Whitetail, Southeastern Whitetail, Gulf Coast Whitetail, Seminole Whitetail, Dakota Whitetail, South Central Plains Whitetail, Northwestern Whitetail, and Desert Whitetail (Coues). The guidelines for accomplishing a Whitetail SLAM are simple and unpretentious: Hunters who harvest and register any legal buck from any four of the whitetail subgroup territories will complete a Whitetail SLAM. Registering any legal buck from all eight whitetail territories constitutes an Ultimate Whitetail SLAM. Past or future bucks qualify, and there is no minimum antler size required. “Helping develop the Whitetail SLAM platform was one of the most rewarding things I have done in my career,” said Jacobson. “There has been a relative loss of appreciation that deer come with different sizes, shapes, colors, physiologies and behaviors across North America. Whitetail SLAM promotes the North American hunting tradition and encourages knowledge of habitat, joined with the pursuit of the hunt. With this comes respect for the whitetails’ unrivaled ability to adapt and survive across changing environments.” Anyone can join the Whitetail SLAM community by registering for free online. Members will receive an e-newsletter, digital magazine, and chances to win gear in weekly drawings. Hunters who register at least one buck on WhitetailSLAM.com will additionally receive a print magazine, and will be able to sign up for free monthly online drawings to win hunts. Kroll (aka “Dr. Deer”) shared his thoughts about Whitetail SLAM: “The popularity of whitetail hunting has grown far beyond my wildest dreams. It is time to take the next step. Finally, we’ll recognize a hunting achievement that combines the uniqueness of North America’s whitetails and the challenges associated with their diverse habitats. A Whitetail SLAM is the ultimate deer-hunting quest!” “The Whitetail SLAM is the first regionally specific recognition program for North America’s most abundant, most hunted and most economically important big-game animal-the white-tailed deer,” said Brian Murphy, CEO and wildlife biologist with the QDMA. “A unique aspect of the Whitetail SLAM is that it is focused on the area in which the deer was harvested, rather than the size of its antlers. This levels the playing field for all hunters while paying tribute to the whitetail’s incredible diversity and adaptability.” The Whitetail SLAM website allows hunters to create their own customized SLAM Page to showcase and share their bucks, their hunting stories and their personal achievements, and to connect and socialize with other SLAMMERS. “Whitetail SLAMMERS will receive framed certificates honoring their achievements,” said Whitetail SLAM Co-Founder Tom Miranda. “Plus, these master hunters will be recognized on WhitetailSLAM.com and within the magazine. Select hunters, winners of hunt giveaways, or participants in the HuntSwap program may be featured on ‘Whitetail Slam Television,’ which begins airing this July on Sportsman Channel and NBC Sports Network.” “Anyone with a good set of tires and a love of the hunt can achieve their SLAM, and we are all about enabling, honoring and recognizing the average North American hunter in pursuit of North America’s favorite big-game animal”, said Whitetail SLAM Co-Founder Cy Weichert. “We look forward to teaching all outdoorsmen how to be better hunters, managers and stewards of our sport.” To learn more about the Whitetail SLAM experience, please log onto www.WhitetailSLAM.com.
