Revered gun writer John Wootters, author of “Hunting Trophy Deer,” died Tuesday in Ingram, Texas. He was 84. The longtime hunting editor for Petersen’s Hunting, his credits also included Outdoor Life, Sports Afield, Field & Stream, American Sportsman, Gray’s Sporting Journal, American Rifleman, Shooting Times, Guns & Ammo and more.
