House to Vote on Appropriations Bill with Traditional Ammo Protections

When the U.S. House of Representatives reconvenes this week it will consider the FY2016 Interior Appropriations bill that contains several provisions important to the outdoor industry. The most important is a section that makes permanent the protection of traditional ammunition and ammunition components (as well as fishing tackle) from EPA regulation under the Toxic Substances Control Act. The bill also has a section that protects the lawful commerce of items that contain ivory legally imported into the U.S. Additionally, the legislation prevents the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from taking any action to list the Sage Grouse on the Endangered Species List and provides adequate funding to combat wildfires that destroy millions of acres of wildlife habitat important for hunting and outdoor recreation.
