Sportsmen’s Act Clears Major Hurdle

By August 11th, 2023No Comments

By an overwhelming bipartisan majority (84-7), the U.S. Senate on Sept. 22 agreed to debate and vote on final passage of the Sportsmen’s Act of 2012 (S.3525) as the first item of business after the November election. The package of bills includes the Hunting, Fishing and Recreational Shooting Protection Act (S.838), which would clarify that ammunition is excluded from regulation by the Environmental Protection Agency under the Toxic Substances Control Act. This legislation is strongly supported by more than 40 of the nation’s leading sportsmen and conservation groups. While it’s expected that a vote on the legislation will take place in the lame duck session, it’s important to maintain momentum toward final passage.
