Local Hunters Team Up For Big Buck Contest to Benefit Breast Cancer Awareness
Three (3) men that hunt between Rocksprings and Sonora have been directly affected by breast cancer (wife, sister, mother and grandmother). Wanting to find a way to help the cause in conjunction with the sport they love, they came up with the idea of a big buck contest. All hunters in Edwards and Sutton County are eligible to enter the 1st Annual Rio Diablo Big Buck Contest.
For the affordable price of $20 hunters can not only help the fight against breast cancer but also have a chance to win great prizes. There will be awards for the best bucks in each county for men, women and youth. In fact, kids 17 and under can enter for a low fee of only $10! And to keep it fun and interesting even if you don’t hunt on a “trophy” ranch, there are also special prizes for longest spike, heaviest doe, biggest hog, top axis buck and best game cam picture! EVERYONE has a chance to win!
Hunters in Edwards County can take their contest animals to be measured and weighed at Tru-Life Taxidermy or Kana’s Taxidermy, while World Class Taxidermy is the scoring headquarters for Sutton County. Entry forms can be picked up at either of these locations, as well as Country Boys Feed Store in Rocksprings and Sonora Wool House Feed and Supply.
