ElkQuest is a world-class elk hunting destination just outside historic Durango, Colorado.  We specialize in remarkable, typical antlers derived from symmetrical, balanced racks with long tines and large mass. A true trophy that is sure to impress.

We offer both the veteran and novice hunter alike an unparalleled experience.  Our professional staff will design a hunt package specifically for you considering your desires, experience, budget, and the number in your party. We are able to accommodate physical limitations as well as short time frames.  Only one party is taken on the property at a time offering a great amount of flexibility and there is no additional charge for non-hunting guests. Keep in mind you do not need to purchase a state license or postpone plans waiting for the draw results.

Enjoy over 1500 acres of forest filled with ponderosa pine with the back drop of the LaPlata Mountains.  The terrain is hunter friendly with an elevation of 7700 feet.  Your guide, with over 30 years of experience, will help you bugle and stalk your bull for a perfect shot.  Elk hunts are available for the rifleman, muzzleloader, and archery hunter during the rut mid-August through the end of October, with your weapon of choice. 

Bull hunts of all levels, from management to trophy size, are available for both harvest and capture (tranquilizer) hunts.  This is an excellent opportunity to interact with elk, learn about their habits, and develop or hone hunting skills through a positive and successful experience.  You will see lots of animals and will not be competing with troops of orange vests. Cow hunts are available in the month of November unless done in conjunction with a bull hunt. 

As a non-profit organization we are dedicated to promoting elk that are showing resistance to Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD).  Our herd has held an excellent health standard, certified by the State of Colorado, for over twelve years ensuring you quality, healthy meat in addition to a world-class trophy.
