TTHA's Youth Essay Contest

Texas Trophy Hunters is proud to continue the much acclaimed Youth Essay Contest in 2010. Youths, ages 10-17, are encouraged to write a 500 word or less essay answering the question, “Why are young hunters so important to the survival of the hunting industry?”
Two of the goals of the Texas Trophy Hunters Association (TTHA) are to promote the education of youth in securing the future of the hunting tradition and to extend the goodwill of members through community outreach. In 2010, that goodwill is going to reach the winning youth in the form of a FREE Whitetail buck hunt in the Texas Hill Country. In addition, the winner will be awarded a membership in the Texas Trophy Hunters Association and their hunt will be featured in The Journal of the Texas Trophy Hunters.

2008 and 2009 Youth Essay Contests
Winners for 2008 and 2009 have been chosen and the prizes have been awarded. Congratulations to Patrick Kavanaugh, winner of the 2009 TTHA Youth Essay Contest. Patrick won a whitetail hunt at the Diamond R Ranch near Fredericksburg, Texas, on what was probably the coldest day of the year. Patrick clutched his rifle in the 19-degree temperature to search for his trophy. Patrick also received a membership in the Texas Trophy Hunters Association presented by Editor Horace Gore.
"The number of hunters in the United States has steadily decreased over the past several years. If I were put in charge of recruiting more people to participate in hunting, I would..."
